Investigate the run before retrying it. A workflow can complete some work before a later step fails, so a new run can repeat writes, exports, or emails unless you check what already happened.

Inspect the failure

  1. Open the workflow’s Runs tab and locate the affected run.
  2. Check its status, trigger, version, duration, credits, and available step details.
  3. Identify the first failed or interrupted step and read its error.
  4. Record which steps completed and whether they changed campaigns, CRM records, spreadsheets, or sent email.
  5. Verify consequential external results in the connected system.

Stop work in progress

Use Stop when it is available for the running task, then confirm the resulting run state. Turning a schedule off addresses future recurrence; it is not proof that current execution stopped. Closing the browser is also not a reliable stop action. Stopping does not establish that completed external actions were reversed. Inspect their actual state before deciding on recovery.

Fix the cause

Choose a retry scope

Review whether the interface offers a step retry, run retry, or a new run. Do not assume those options resume identically. Confirm which steps will execute and what earlier output will be reused. For a task with writes or emails, ask support if that scope is unclear. After recovery, review actual outputs and the credit ledger. A failed or stopped status does not by itself establish a zero charge or prove that repeating work cannot create a duplicate.
